The Plastic Brick Project
Collected plastic waste is processed by heating and chipping in a simple but effective auger system. Designed by Pangolin it ensures minimal fumes and a consistent result.
Consistent plastic chippings are produced from the plastic waste which then replace the aggregated in bricks. The chippings are hard and lightweight.
The plastic chippings are then simply mixed with cement, sand and water, picked into molds and left in the sun to cure. The plastic chippings also provides the bricks with additional strength.
The standard sized finished bricks are ready for any building purpose. In this way collect plastic waste is locked up in the brick for its lifetime and the cost of making bricks is reduced.
